Care Guide

Care 101

How to Care for Your Onyxelle

Onyxelle is built for daily wear — but a little care extends the shine for years.

The basics

  • Wear it daily. Showering, sleeping, gym sessions — Onyxelle survives. Tarnish-resistant 18K gold-plating bonded to surgical-grade 316L steel.
  • Pat dry after pool / ocean. Chlorine and prolonged saltwater can dull plating. Rinse with fresh water, gently pat dry with a soft cloth.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals. Bleach, ammonia, and strong solvents can damage gold plating. Apply perfume, lotion, hairspray before putting jewelry on.

Cleaning

Once a month (or as needed):

  1. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm (not hot) water.
  2. Soak your piece for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gently rub with a soft cloth or soft toothbrush. Never abrasive scrubs.
  4. Rinse with clean water, pat completely dry.

Don't: use silver polish, baking soda paste, or ultrasonic cleaners — these can strip the gold plating.

Storage

  • Store flat or hung when not worn.
  • Keep pieces separate to avoid scratching (the included gift box has individual compartments).
  • Avoid humid bathrooms — bedroom drawer is ideal.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods.

Travel

Onyxelle ships in a premium gift-ready box that doubles as a travel case. Keep pieces in their compartments to prevent tangling.

What's normal vs. what's not

Normal Not normal
Slight loss of shine after 1-2 years of daily wear Tarnishing within 60 days (covered by guarantee)
Minor scratching from contact with hard surfaces Plating flaking off in chunks
Skin reaction in first week (rare, usually resolves) Persistent skin reaction (contact us)

If anything feels off, email contact@onyxelle.ca. Within 60 days, we'll replace defective pieces free of charge.

Why our pieces last

Onyxelle uses PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) gold-plating on a 316L surgical steel core — the same technique luxury watchmakers use for cases that survive decades. Unlike cheap costume jewelry that flakes in weeks, Onyxelle is engineered to outlast.
